She is 26-year-old and a second child in a family of 3, Perry and her siblings lost their parents at tender age and were taken in by their grandmother. All through her life, Perry had always strived to work hard in her studies to support her grandmother and her siblings. She had even managed to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Enterprise and Management degree at Egerton University." Skills and Enterprise Development The program's primary goal is to enhance the economic productivity of disadvantaged women and youth-led micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through various interventions. Our Approach The program is anchored on the SME LOOP Business Training and Coaching model which is designed to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in increasing and sustaining employment and income generation. The model takes a systematic approach by targeting various value chains and implementing a customized cyclical capacity building process. The program combines coaching cycles with credit facilities, which are guaranteed through a toolkit. This allows SMEs to access financial resources for their business operations. Additionally, the model focuses on facilitating linkages to market opportunities, enabling SMEs to reach potential customers and expand their business networks. The program also emphasizes the importance of exchange and learning platforms for knowledge growth and peer support. SMEs can participate in workshops, seminars, and networking events, where they can share experiences, learn from industry experts, and collaborate with their peers. This has often resulted in violence and crimes, especially during election times. Young people are often manipulated and hired by politicians to intimidate their rivals and cause violence. Women remain largely excluded from playing an active role in conflict resolution processes. PROJECT AIM Reduce violent gang activities and violent extremism to enhance community safety. Enhance communication, collaboration and trust between the police, the county government, local politicians, the civil society and youth at risk of violence and crime. Results 2017 1’288 representatives from the national and county government, the police, the Council of Elders, the media, as well as religious, youth and civil society leaders attended a series of networking and problem-solving forums. Increased levels of trust and confidence between police and youth at risk groups leading to increased violence and crime reporting. 25 women were trained in mediation and became actively involved in mitigating land conflicts and political incitement. When he was 11, his brother Moses was almost killed during the post-election violence that broke out after the contested 2007 Kenyan Elections. After the results of the election were announced, the country was ripped apart along ethnic lines. Moses’ neighbours turned against him - they attacked him and burned his house down. He lost everything." I was not at peace because my brother Moses almost lost his life,” Felix said. The 2022 election season was different for Felix, and for many Kenyans, in what is widely recognized as the most peaceful election in Kenya’s history. Felix was part of that success. Felix and his brother live in Mathare, an informal settlement in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi. In 2022, through USAID Kenya’s Electoral Conflicts Mitigation and Civic Education Support (ECCES) program, We trained Felix as a Peace Ambassador. < Back Technical Stakeholders Conclude Review of Draft Siaya County Land Management Policy Location Siaya County Location Climate Resilience Siaya, Kenya The Department of Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development, in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Pamoja for Transformation Trust (P4T), has successfully concluded a two-day Technical Stakeholders' Review Workshop for the Draft Siaya County Land Management Policy at Candela Hotel, Siaya. The workshop, officially opened by Mr. Moses Mugendi, Deputy Director of the National Lands Information Management System (NLIMS), brought together land practitioners from national and county governments, civil society organizations, gender and land rights advocates, development partners, and technical experts. Workshop Objectives & Outcomes As the third stakeholder engagement forum in the policy development process, the session focused on: Technical validation of the draft policy content Incorporating inclusive feedback to enhance policy clarity, feasibility, and equity Finalizing a roadmap for county-level approval, adoption, and implementation Key thematic areas addressed included land use planning, land administration systems, natural resource governance, county land information management, and the integration of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) infrastructure to support transparent and efficient land processes. A Collaborative Approach to Land Governance Mr. Mugendi emphasized that a comprehensive, inclusive, and sustainable land policy framework is essential for effective land administration, dispute resolution, and spatial planning in Siaya County. Location Climate Resilience and Peace and Governance In partnership with GFA-GIZ, P4T's Agri-Jobs 4 Youth (AJ4Y) initiative is implementing comprehensive approaches to enhance youth and women's access to land for sustainable economic development in Western Kenya. This multi-pronged program addresses critical barriers preventing young people and women from participating fully in agricultural value chains. Recent Progress Review Workshop On July 24th, a progress review and reflection workshop was held at Victoria Comfort Inn Hotel, Kisumu, to assess implementation outcomes, identify challenges, and draw lessons for upcoming activities and future initiatives. The workshop brought together key stakeholders including: County Climate Action Officers (CCAs) Farmers Service Centers (FSCs) Representatives from GIZ-WE4R AJ4Y team members Partners from Shibuye and Siaya County Youth Network Key Achievements 1. Enhanced Awareness and Knowledge Increased awareness among farmers and landowners about land access mechanisms Improved understanding of different forms of land acquisition processes Better comprehension of legal frameworks governing land rights 2. Capacity Development in Renewable Energy Through Technical & Vocational Education The Biogas Systems Installer I Course was developed to address the skills demand for people working in the renewable energy sector. For many years, there has been no training curriculum for Biogas Systems Installers. The development of the curriculum will assist in regulating the training and certification of Biogas System Installers at Level 4 of the Kenya National Qualifications Framework (KNQF). The Biogas Systems Installer I Course will assist in improving the knowledge and competencies of workers in the industry to become innovative and creative in applying the suggestions to facilitate the creation of a qualified and productive workforce with practical knowledge and skills in biogas installation.

The program is supported by GIZ -Employment promotion for women for the green transformation in Africa (WE4D), an initiative focused on advancing women’s participation in renewable energy and sustainable development. The mentorship club seeks to inspire, guide, and empower students and graduates pursuing careers in renewable energy fields such as solar energy, e-mobility, green hydrogen energy, and bio energy technologies. With the renewable energy sector traditionally dominated by men, this initiative aims to create pathways for women to not only enter but thrive in the industry. Empowering Women in a Male-Dominated Field Despite the growing demand for skilled professionals in renewable energy, women remain underrepresented in the field. According to studies, women account for less than 30% of the global renewable energy workforce, with even fewer occupying leadership roles. The TUM-Renewable Energy Mentorship Club addresses this imbalance by providing tailored support to female students and graduates. Key objectives of the mentorship program include: 🔹 Career Guidance and Industry Exposure: The club will connect students with experienced mentors from the renewable energy sector. These mentors will provide guidance on navigating career challenges, securing internships, attachments, and employment opportunities, and overcoming gender biases in the workplace. 🔹 Building Resilience Against Gender Biases: Participants will receive training on how to cope with biases and stereotypes prevalent in male-dominated industries. Workshops on confidence-building, negotiation skills, and networking will equip women with tools to succeed professionally. 🔹 Hands-On Practical Experience: Through partnerships with industry leaders and organizations like GIZ WE4D, the club will offer practical, hands-on experience in cutting-edge renewable energy technologies. This includes exposure to solar panel installations, hydrogen fuel cell innovations, and biogas production systems. 🔹 Proposal Writing and Grant Submission Support: To foster innovation and research, the club will assist members in developing proposals for funding and grants. This will enable students and graduates to pursue further research in areas such as hydrogen energy, bioenergy, and other emerging renewable technologies.
