Pamoja for Transformation empowers youth, women and men to solve problems in their communities related to violence, security and poverty. We help transform institutions and communities to move from crisis and poverty to peace and prosperity across Kenya. < Back Enhancing Youth and Women Access to Land for Sustainable Economic Development in Western Kenya Location Kakamega County Location Peace and Governance and Climate Resilience Empowering Youth and Women: P4T and GFA Conduct Land Access Training Workshop for Community Change Agents and Farmers Service Centers Bukura, Kenya - In a significant step toward boosting agricultural development and empowering marginalized groups, P4T, in collaboration with GFA under the Agri-Jobs for Youth initiative, successfully conducted an awareness and sensitization training workshop at Bukura Agricultural Training Center (ATC). The one-day awareness and sensitization session brought together Community Change Agents (CCAs) and Farmers Service Centers (FSCs) from the five project counties: Kisumu, Kakamega, Siaya, Vihiga, and Bungoma. The workshop focused on strengthening the capacity of CCAs and FSCs with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively facilitate community sensitization and awareness forums on land access. The primary focus of these forums will be to address the challenges faced by youth and women in accessing land for agricultural activities, ultimately aiming to increase their participation and productivity in the sector. This training is a vital precursor to the intergenerational dialogues already initiated by the project team. By empowering local community agents with information and sensitization techniques, P4T and GFA are fostering a grassroots movement to address land access issues. The expectation is that well-informed CCAs and FSCs will be instrumental in creating awareness and paving the way for constructive dialogues that can lead to tangible improvements in land access for young people and women in the region. This initiative emphasizes the commitment of P4T and GFA to not only create job opportunities in agriculture for the youth but also to address the fundamental issue of land access, which is often a significant barrier to entry and success in the agricultural sector, particularly for women and youths. The impact of this training is expected to foster greater equity and increased agricultural output across the five counties. About us Measuring Results As a learning organization, Pamoja is keen to find out precisely what impact its projects have. This enables Pamoja to learn from success and failure, plan future projects better and show accountability to the communities it serves as well as to partners and donors. Pamoja learns from its daily work in different ways, for instance by regular review and reflection forums to assess what went well and what could be done better. Over the past years, Pamoja has built a monitoring and results measurement (MRM) system into all its projects. This system measures qualitative and quantitative indicators, covering outputs, outcomes, impact, partners and efficiency. Pamoja received technical support and advise to develop a MRM framework from external MRM advisors. Pamoja works towards aligning its MRM framework to global good-practice standards, such as the Donor Committee on Enterprise Development (DCED) Standards. Transparency Pamoja adheres to the Initiative Transparent Civil Society by Transpareny International. Signatories of the Initiative voluntarily commit to publishing ten pieces of information about their organisation on their website. Our Projects Our Programs Skills and Enterprise Development The program's primary goal is to enhance the economic productivity of disadvantaged women and youth-led micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through various interventions. These interventions include skills development, wealth creation, and promoting resilience and adaptation. To achieve this, the program provides a comprehensive range of support to disadvantaged women and youth. This support includes technical skills training, soft skills development, entrepreneurship knowledge, and assistance with market and financial linkages. By equipping them with these capacities, the program aims to enhance their ability to generate income, create employment opportunities, and support sustainable livelihoods. Learn More Climate Change Resilience Program The programme is premised on an integrated approach that promotes adaptation towards livelihood promotion. the program focuses on value chain development in circular economy, developing capacities of women and youth led SME’s. The program operates at the nexus between policy and action for resilience building and innovation within the green and blue economy value chains. Further, the program integrates and promotes renewable energy technologies in order to foster economic growth, enhance access to resources, affordability, availability towards food security and job opportunities while conserving the natural ecosystem. The program acknowledges that depletion of the natural ecosystem and the climatic changes factors not only disrupts human livelihoods, but also breeds conflicts arising from unsustainable utilization of the environment and it’s attendant resources. Through the program, we engage in policy influencing, as well as facilitate improved civic engagements and access to justice. This program acts as the fulcrum and equilibrium that provides the impetus and lense for supporting the development and implementation of the climate change and SED programs. The NMF was born out of the need for a collective, consistent and coordinated voice on an inclusive national dialogue.
