From Community Priorities to a People’s Manifesto: P4T Convenes Siaya County People’s Assembly

SIAYA COUNTY –

In a major step toward strengthening grassroots democracy and civic participation, Pamoja for Transformation (P4T) convened a comprehensive People’s Assembly on August 24, 2026. The event brought together a diverse coalition of citizens and partners representing all six sub-counties of Siaya County: Alego, Ugenya, Ugunja, Gem, Bondo, and Rarieda.

Validating the Citizens’ Manifesto The primary objective of the Assembly was to provide an inclusive platform for citizens to input, review, and validate the draft Citizens’ Manifesto. The session was designed to be highly interactive, allowing community members to gather feedback, identify existing gaps, and strengthen the core priorities and issues captured in the document.

Reflecting Real Experiences Through open dialogue and collective reflection, participants ensured that the final manifesto is not just a theoretical document, but a true reflection of the real experiences, priorities, and aspirations of the people of Siaya County. By grounding the manifesto in lived realities, P4T and its partners are ensuring that the document remains relevant and impactful.

Preparing for 2027 and Beyond The validation of the Citizens’ Manifesto marks a critical milestone in local governance. The finalized document will provide a stronger, unified basis for citizen engagement, advocacy, and accountability, particularly as the county looks ahead to the 2027 General Elections. It serves as a benchmark for citizens to measure leadership performance and demand responsive governance.
