Equipping the Next Generation: P4T Hosts Youth Aspirants Leadership Training Ahead of 2027 Elections

On 26th and 27th October 2026, Pamoja for Transformation (P4T), under the ACT Resilience, Peace and Stability (RPS) Programme, successfully convened the Youth Aspirants Leadership Training at the Ngong Hills Hotel in Nairobi. The two-day capacity-building initiative was designed to equip young political aspirants with the essential knowledge, skills, and ethical frameworks required to navigate their electoral journeys ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

Comprehensive Capacity Building

The training curriculum was meticulously designed to cover the end-to-end electoral process. Sessions ranged from understanding eligibility requirements and developing compelling visions and manifestos to practical campaign planning, financial compliance, and robust digital security planning.

Direct Engagement with Electoral Management Bodies

A cornerstone of the training was the interactive engagement sessions with representatives from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP). This platform allowed aspirants to demystify electoral systems and directly address practical barriers they face within political parties, including:

  • Challenges in verifying party membership and processing resignations.

  • Unfair or manipulated nomination processes and unofficial payments demanded for party tickets.

  • Strategies to protect women and youth from political exclusion and tokenism.

  • Clear pathways for confirming eligibility early, appealing nomination decisions, and verifying results from the polling station to the tallying centre.

Championing Inclusivity and Digital Safety

The dialogues also highlighted critical safeguards against threats and online abuse targeting women and young candidates. Aspirants actively advocated for inclusive electoral methods, urging the IEBC to adopt tactile ballot guides to protect the voting privacy of persons with visual impairments.

Furthermore, the IEBC reinforced the critical need for digital literacy, urging youth aspirants to rigorously fact-check information before sharing. Battling misinformation is not just about protecting individual political campaigns; it is a vital step in safeguarding communities from electoral conflict.

Looking Ahead to 2027

Pamoja for Transformation remains committed to fostering a political environment that is inclusive, transparent, and peaceful. By empowering young leaders with the right tools and institutional knowledge, we are building a resilient foundation for Kenya’s democratic future.
