Advancing Peace and Cohesion Through Strategic Partnerships

NAIROBI, KENYA – September 4, 2026 – In a strong commitment to safeguarding national unity, Partners for Peace and Transformation (P4T) held a high-level courtesy call yesterday, September 3rd, with the newly appointed leadership of the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC). The meeting focused on assessing the current state of peace and cohesion in the country and mapping out strategic collaborations for the future.

The P4T delegation was received by the NCIC Chairperson, Bishop Dr. Replace Omae, alongside Commissioners Hassan Billow and Joseph Nguyo, CEO Dr. Daniel Mutegi, and Director Kilian Nyambu.

Strategic Areas of Collaboration The bilateral discussions identified several key areas for partnership aimed at institutionalizing sustainable peace. A major highlight of the meeting was the proposed revival of the Cross-Border Peace Park at the Sondu border, which lies between Kisumu and Kericho Counties. This initiative aims to transform historical flashpoints into hubs of economic integration and social cohesion.

Furthermore, both parties agreed on the urgent need to modernize peacebuilding efforts. This includes enhancing Early Warning and Response strategies through the integration of digital technologies, allowing for real-time monitoring and rapid intervention. A strong emphasis was also placed on capacity building for local peace structures to ensure resilience at the grassroots level.

Charting the Path to a Peaceful 2027 A significant portion of the meeting was deliberately dedicated to ensuring a peaceful and credible 2027 General Election. Recognizing the critical nature of the upcoming electoral cycle, the NCIC shared its recently launched Roadmap towards a Violence-Free 2027 General Election.

Described as a comprehensive blueprint, the roadmap invites every Kenyan, civil society actor, and stakeholder to make informed choices and act responsibly. It serves as a guiding framework for the country’s journey toward a hopeful, peaceful, and credible electoral process.

P4T and the NCIC reaffirmed their shared commitment to working closely with all Kenyans to actualize the goals of the Violence-Free 2027 roadmap, ensuring that national cohesion remains at the forefront of the country's development agenda.
