Project Regions

We work in four regions in Kenya with particularly high rates of violence and poverty:

​

  • The coastal counties: Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale Lamu, and Tana River are among the most unequal and poorest areas in Kenya with high rates of domestic and sexualized violence and a youth unemployment rate of 49%. 

  • Western Kenya: (Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Busia, Bungoma) Western Kenya has the highest incidents of political and ethnic violence and a poverty rate of 45%. 

  • Nairobi County : Kibra, Mathare, Kajiado, Embakasi, Dagoreti, and Kamkunji is affected by pronounced incidents of sexual, criminal & political violence and high unemployment.

  • Northern Kenya: Nakuru, Samburu, Baringo, Turkana are affected by natural, resource-based conflicts, cattle rustling and human-wildlife conflict. Inter-community conflicts, including conflicts between host and refugee communities.
